I won't even try to list all the great Literature you could add to your home library. But, I will give you a few resources where you can find such lists, and a few series you will want to check into - and a few "can't miss" books in this category. The first 3 books listed here are "Books of Books" - giving lists of books to read, reviews, and listings within subject, location, and/or timeperiod. I don't have all the classics that you'll want to read listed here. But you'll find them by using the search boxes at the bottom of this page.

Thank you for your order through our links. It helps support the many aspects of "free" ministry from Me and My House.

The HeartHome tells you a product is exclusively from Me and My House.

Life Transforming Literature!

Lamplighter - Rare Collectors Series and more! Click here to order any Lamplighter - at a 15% discount. (See some of the other titles we really enjoy on our Governments page.) These classics, by various authors, may not be ones you know the names of, but once you read them you will never forget. They truly are Lifechanging Literature, written in a time when authors weren't afraid to have a good moral to a great story. Although these were written in a time with more advanced language than today's children are accustomed to, my young boys begged me to continue on "just one more chapter today" in several of these books. It may be different than common today, and they may not understand all the words, but children know great writing when they hear it. Don't miss Basket of Flowers and Hedge of Thorns for starters.

In Freedom's CauseHenty Historical Fiction Henty wrote most captivating historical fiction in the 1800's. The hardbacks make an awesome collector's library, but the paperbacks are very nice too. Several companies publish them now. The hardbacks from Vision Forum usually have some sort of special pricing going on, and they always have sets with great pricing, as well as audio versions. Christian Book Distributors offers everyday discounts and carries both paperback and hardback, as well as audio. (Jim Hodges is one of our favorite narrators of Henty books.) Many titles throughout all of history. Download a list of the historical books with timeperiod, here. I hope to get a more comprehensive Henty page up, but for now, just browse titles at either our Vision Forum link or our CBD link.

The Pilgrim's Progress
By John Bunyan / Hendrickson Publishers

Inexpensive hardback edition. Nice for a small gift or first Bunyan.

Once the most deeply cherished book in English-speaking households other than Bible itself, John Bunyan's The Pilgrim's Progress is the allegorical tale of Christian the pilgrim on his journey to the Celestial City. Along the way, Christian encounters both worthy companions and dreadful adversaries. Although this book was written more than three hundred years ago, this stirring spiritual narrative still bears the power to challenge and encourage readers on their own spiritual journeys.

    By Random House, Inc

Sir Dalton, a knight in training, seems to have everything going for him. Young, well-liked, and a natural leader, he has earned the respect and admiration of his fellow knights, and especially the beautiful Lady Brynn.

But something is amiss at the training camp. Their new trainer is popular but lacks the passion to inspire them to true service to the King and the Prince. Besides this, the knights are too busy enjoying a season of good times to be concerned with a disturbing report that many of their fellow Knights have mysteriously vanished.

When Sir Dalton is sent on a mission, he encounters strange attacks, especially when he is alone. As his commitment wanes, the attacks grow in intensity until he is captured by Lord Drox, a massive Shadow Warrior. Bruised and beaten, Dalton refuses to submit to evil and initiates a daring escape with only one of two outcomes-life or death. But what will become of the hundreds of knights he'll leave behind? In a kingdom of peril, Dalton thinks he is on his own, but two faithful friends have not abandoned him, and neither has a strange old hermit who seems to know much about the Prince. But can Dalton face the evil Shadow Warrior again and survive?
